Drivers are installed, even went to Asus site, downloaded and installed latest Realtek ALC850 Driver V5.10.0.5870 for Windows 2000/XP. Bios is updated to ver. 1009. Nothing turned off/down or muted in software; checked bios and AC'97 is enabled. Everything else appears to work with no problems. Hmmmm..

I've been using their 64-bit driver releases since XP x64 became available on a Supermicro X6DAE-G2 dual-Xeon workstation board with no problems. I'm quite pleased with RealTek's work!

It seems that I get no sound with the Microsoft-supplied drivers, even though I ran the upgrade advisor and it said the audio would be supported (not totally true). I loaded the 6213 drivers from Realtek, and I can get dolby digital audio when I play DVDs, but no system sounds, or sounds when I play mp3s.

Analog sound works fine.. but no digital output on Realtek ALC850 drivers and on nVidia Vista drivers... anyone has an idea? regards Sorry for spam :) problem solved... 2 days of searching and manipulating the system... and... cable was broken...
